Size Guide

Vintage style handmade Liberty print children's clothes
Individually & lovingly made-to-order in your choice of my Liberty prints

Babies & children come in all shapes and sizes, no two boys or girls are the same & many don't fit clothes for their age.  My handmade clothes are generously cut and are about a centimetre or two larger than most shop bought brands.*

Dresses with fitted bodices have approximately 5cm ease - this allows for comfort & movement.  Looser smock styles are obvioulsy roomier.  Whilst I can't offer a bespoke service with fittings, if you send me measurements I can mix and match bodice sizes and skirt lengths, for example using a narrower bodice with a longer skirt for a tall, slim girl.

I make sizes from 3-6m up to 8-9 years.  I don't make for older girls at the moment because that's the age they start to grow-up and change shape and without fittings it's difficult to get a perfect fit.  That said, my sizings are generous and I can add length for older girls if their chest size falls within my size range.

(Lovely John Lewis have a helpful size guide for girls and boys which compares their sizing to other well-known brands).

Please don't hesitate to call for advice (01663 751 126 / 07818 411 791) and if something I make doesn't fit, just return it and I'll make another bigger or smaller size.

Care & washing advice

Machine wash at 30C or cool handwash
Warm/medium iron
Do not tumble dry
Do not bleach
Do not dry clean
& of course, wash dark colours separately from whites

Dark denim may run on the first few wears so please do wash separately.

I'd always recommend using laundry washbags to protect the fabric from damage from fastenings, buttons, beads & ribbons on other items of washing.

Ties should only dry cleaned and net petticoats should never be washed or ironed.

Last but not least, as my mother says, when machine washing hanging out as soon as the cycle finishes means less ironing (and she's always right!)

My handmade clothes are generously cut and are about a centimetre or two larger than most shop bought brands.  This allows for comfort & movement, wearing t-shirts underneath in cooler weather and also means you get more wear over a longer period of time.
